What We've Been Up To....

It's all work here the last two weeks. Forming footers and forming the stem wall.

In other news, we have been going to the Warner Robins 1st ward. It's one of the largest wards in the Macon, GA stake. Cody, of course, has been very busy with YSA activities and also being asked to the youth fireside. Our Ward participated in the Church Day of Service sponsored by our church. Over 95 stakes throughout the South Eastern United States participated in cleaning up parks and other community areas. We had a great turn out from the two Warner Robins wards.
Skye and Ryan arrived here in Warner Robins about 3 hours ago so now we can look forward to Ryan's great Grilling and playing family games again!

Tea Party ......

To Emily, Jonas, Adrianna, Preston, Lydia, Adam, Gideon and Lily,

Today I did something for you. I made signs, drove to town and attended a rally with several hundred like minded people. There are thousands and thousands of us across America who wanted to say to the politicians in Washington D.C. and throughout the world......
"You are enslaving our children and grandchildren with your out of control spending! You are taking away their freedoms and their futures. We do not agree with the way you are governing and we don't like what you are doing to our country!

WE THE PEOPLE..........

....... aren't going to take it anymore!!!"
Love,
Grandma Cindy

Where will Cody serve?

Next month Cody turns in the required paperwork to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He will find out where he is going in the end of May or beginning of June. But just for fun we want to know where you think he will go. On the right hand side of the page is a poll. Please let us know where you think he will serve. If your place is not on the poll leave a comment and we will add it. Remember, this is all just for fun and only the Lord knows where he is needed the most. We know he will happily go where ever he is Called To Serve.

I AM GOING!!!

Friends! Brethren! Countrymen! The worst of plagues, the detested TEA ... is now arrived in this harbor. The hour of destruction, or manly opposition to the machinations of tyranny, stares you in the face. Every friend to his country, to himself and posterity ... is now called upon ... to make a united and successful resistance to this last, worst, and most destructive measure of administration. Samuel Adams - Dec. 1773

41 years ago (February 1968) I had the privilege of standing on the spot (or as close to it as you could get with the modern buildings in the way) of the original BOSTON TEA PARTY which took place on Dec. 16, 1773. As an 11 year old I didn't really understand the intricacies of the argument the colonists had with England, but one thing I did understand was that there was tyranny in the actions of the King and Parliament in trying to control a FREE people. And that a handful of men and women had had enough and were intent on showing the crown how they felt! It seemed to be the only way to get their undivided attention. It came to the point where they were willing to die to secure a free people and society!

In recent years we have see hundreds of protests about various causes, but almost without exception these have been protests by a very loud minority over instituting a liberal agenda, ie: abortion rights, no more nukes, save the whales and the seals but kill the unborn babies, save the trees and owls and the rat but put the farmer and logger and developer in jail, "I hate the war and all conservative political candidates (The President killed my son!)", immigration reform, etc., etc.

Most of the time when these protests were taking place, the majority of the people in the U.S.A. looked at the spectacle, rolled their eyes and maybe wondered where these people find the time to just run off during the middle of the week and do this. Then we do what we do best. Get back to work so we can support our family and this government and pretend the protests really don't make a difference.

WE WERE WRONG!!!! Congress, Judges, State and local Government officials did listen to the minority and to appease them gave in to them. It is time that we, the Majority follow the example set for us by the first Patriots of this country and actually get out and do something. Everyone who really feels that the Government has gone to far with the Bailouts, Stimulus plans, Tarp etc. Needs to get out and protest on April 15th, TAX DAY!!!! Click on the link at the top or bottom of this post to find a Tea Party in your area! Be a little "radical" for once in your life and let your voice be heard! Make posters and sacrifice a couple hours of your day! At least be seen showing that you truly care about what happens to this nation!! Take your children with you and let them be involved in some "Civil Obedience" (it won't be "civil disobedience" since these functions all have the proper permits etc.)

With the Stimulus plans (bailouts) and Tarp and the new Stimulus they want to pass we are being taxed to death and most of us are just rolling our eyes and complaining to friends and family and not doing anything about it. In the end $12 Trillion dollars will be what the government has committed to spending in the name of getting the economy going. And the scariest part isn't the spending of the money, it's the absolute control the administration wants to have over any company or state that accepts the money. (Like not letting them give the money back or firing their CEO's or setting salary and bonus caps for executives. Too bad we can't set the Salaries for the Congress. After all, they do work FOR us, right?)

Fixing My Back

Okay, because those of you reading this know me and love me I will share this little experience with you. I would ask you not to judge me too harshly as you read this.

Luckily there are no pictures to go with this post. That would have just been too embarrassing!!!

Today as I stood in the bathroom fixing my hair and applying makeup so I would look presentable at the church as I watched Conference I felt an unbelievable stabbing pain across the center of my back. It was so bad that it took my breath away and I could barely keep standing. I gasped for breath, bent over at the waist and hunched my back like a cat. That relieved a little pressure, but as I stood up the pain started again. Thinking it might be a circulation problem (and looking for an excuse to be rid of a certain undergarment) I gasped and moaned in pain as I removed my girdle. .......DARN!! It still hurt. I figured the girdle was not the problem, but not wanting to make things worse I kept it off, went back to the bathroom to complete my beauty regime and just suffer the pain.

I finished dressing, then came downstairs very carefully as every step seemed to cause me more pain, and sat at the computer to write in my journal. The pain let up somewhat but was still there. Shiloh called, and as I was talking to her that severe stabbing pain came back so I hung up and called Hillary to see if she had any clue what was going on. I was so worried that it might be serious, you know, a strange virus attacking my back or something worse. I tell you all this so the next part of the story won’t seem so,… umm, strange.

Well, she had the answer right away. For the last 21 days (with few exceptions) I have spent almost 8 or more hours a day in the car. At the minimum at least 4 or 5. In very technical terms she explained that I have compressed some vertebrae in my back and it was probably pinching a whatchamacallit nerve causing the pain. The way to relieve it was to hang on my inversion table for 5 minutes. Great!!! Except the table is in Idaho. No problem she said. Just go find some monkey bars and hang upside down. People will think you’re a crazy old lady, but hey, if it makes you feel better.

Well, it is raining here and I really don’t want to go out in the rain to do this. I called Shiloh to tell her what was going on and told her I thought I could hang from the banister. She suggested that maybe I just lay upside down on the stairs. Pssshaw! I can do this!! I was a gymnast!!

Okay… remember, please don’t judge me.

Not wanting to expose myself to the emptiness of my apartment, I took off my skirt and slip and put on a pair of stretch pants, went to the stairway and slipped my legs through the posts to hang by my knees against the wall with my head down by the steps. Hmmm….. this lasted for about 15 seconds before my legs began to cramp terribly. Oh NO!!!! I can’t just lift myself up with my stomach muscles as I did 30 years ago. There are no muscles there!! (so much for that gymnast thing!) I reached back to try and pull myself up by the banister and gently slide my legs out. Left leg came out no problem but the right leg was caught and my BAD HIP (yeah, I forgot about that) was preventing me from moving it. OUCH!!!! I am in great pain by this point and I can’t let go of the banister because I will fall down the stairs! I have visions of no one finding me for weeks, and when they do I am in this ridiculous outfit. ..."What was she thinking?" I can hear them laughing.

I finally bite the bullet and let go. My Right leg comes out and I go sliding down the stairs on my back head first. I put my hands over my head and slow my descent finally stopping about 2 steps before the little angled landing step. Well, this actually didn’t feel to bad so I decided to lie there for several minutes. After about 10 minutes I realized that the blood was all in my head and I should get up. The question was how? I will admit that the first thought I had (a remnant of my gymnastics days) was to just lift my feet up over my head and flip lightly onto my feet. Then sanity set in and a mental picture of my butt print smashed through the wall at the bottom of the stairs stopped me. I really knew in my heart I probably wouldn’t make it all the way over anyway so I very slowly turned over to my stomach and snaked my way down to the floor where I finally made it to my feet.

The good news is that I think I finally got my hip joint back in place and for the first time in weeks I feel no pain there. Also, the pain in my back is a little better. The bad news is that I am really realizing the limitations of my physical body. The spirit is often willing but the body is definitely weak and out of shape. I should really do something about that, but for now I need to get in the truck, drive to the chruch and sit some more.

I hope you have a good day.

My Men in Romania

I know that these images are small, but I cannot figure out how to enlarge them. The first 4 are of the town and area where Darryl and Cody are working near the Black Sea. (I think it is Tulcea but I will find out for sure today).

****************************** This Weekend they took a 6 hour drive and went to visit some very famous Castles. The fairy tale type castle is Peles Castle built sometime in the 1800s for the Kings Residence. Darryl said Cody took over 200 Pictures of this castle.

The Interior of this castle is AMAZING!!! Look it up online sometime.

This last castle was the main reason for the visit. It is Dracula's castle the home of Vlad the Impaler (one of the most gruesome of the Mad Kings and Queens of Europe). Funny Story though. Darryl and Cody went into the small village just below the castle and looked at all of the souviners and lo and behold Darryl found something he just had to have. A CTR ring. He is probably the only person around with a CTR ring from Dracula's Castle. ;-)
