Due to the wisdom of the NUCOR powers that be, and since "July 4th" is really no big deal, I mean you can BBQ and drink beer at the lake anytime, they decided it would be best to work on Independence Day and close the site down on Friday so they could have a traditional 3 day weekend. This stems from the fact that to them it is "just the 4th" and not INDEPENDENCE DAY!
I was really starting to complain and whine about it when I realized how fortunate I am to live in such a wonderful country and I know many other good people have to work on Independence Day. Nurses and hospital staff, Clerks in all types of stores, waiters, waitresses, cooks, etc.. So I decided to make it a holiday at work by serving Patriotic Cupcakes and Watermelon to the crew, and at the morning Safety/Trivia/ announcements meeting Adam "grilled" them on "Safety with Gas Grills" and I gave them Accidents reports on Fireworks injuries in America. For supper Darryl, Cody and I tried to have a traditional holiday dinner with Grilled Chicken, baked beans and potato Salad. And we did read the Declaration of Independence at our meal. Because we had to be at work the next morning, Darryl and I were asleep just after 8:00 so we missed all the fireworks. Oh Well, It was a wonderful day anyway.
Since I have no pictures of our day, I hope you will enjoy the picture of our family's youngest patriot, Reagan Elisabeth.
God Bless America!
