A Quick Trip to Utah and Idaho

On Monday July 12th I left Terre Haute, Indiana and Drove to Utah to help Hillary out. While I was there  I visited with Jesse, Kelly, Cody and Alisa and their families.

Jake was going out of town, so I packed Hillary and the boys up and we drove to Idaho to visit Jesse and Kelly and to see the house they were remodeling. Here are a few photos. Unfortunately, we were having such a good time in Idaho I forgot to take pictures, all I had on my phone was this one. And Jethro isn't even in it, he took off down the path.

From left: Gabe, Parker, Tyree, Ezra, Clancy and Gideon.

Gideon and Parker were in Idaho visiting their Dad and Grandparents, so I was able to bring them to Jesse's for 2 days. Since the Crystals were staying in their camping trailer, we camped in tents, Hillary and I, her three boys and their Slippers dog. The kids spent the days playing in the Canal ditch and exploring the new property while Jesse, Hillary and I visited.

Back in Utah I took a couple of days and stayed with Cody, Alisa and their 3 children. I love this picture of our little Fat Sammy.

And Fat Sammy loves his Grandma!

I had fun playing tie Rachel, Ross and Alisa too!

Hillary and I went out to dinner and a wonderful Korean Restaurant near Cody and Alisa's house.

I love to hear hear speak Korean to the wait staff. Our waiter said she did very well. Of course the restaurants are almost empty due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

Hello Handsome Ross the boss.

On my final night I introduced Cody and Alisa's family to the joys of Chinese Hot Pot dinners at a brand new Chinese Restaurant!

After a week I packed up and headed east, back to Angola, Indiana. This time I decided to take a detour and do a little sightseeing on my own.

Father's Day, Fairy Houses, The 4th of July and other Fun!

Sunday June 21, 2020
Darryl had a wonderful Father's Day and for once I was able to surprise him with a gift.
Keen hiking boots and this family sign...

Dome Technology had a delay in the airform for our salt dome, so they asked Darryl to go to Shelburn, Indiana, just a few miles from Terre Haute, to fill in for 2 weeks while the superintendent went on Vacation. This was great for me, I was able to spend more time with Michelle (Shelly) and Patty.

For Independence Day we went to Terre Haute to Celebrate with Shelly and Patty and their families. Sandy also came up to stay and she and I made a little Fairy House and Garden for Michelle's little granddaughters.

She has the best trees for the Fairies to live in.

On Sunday July 5th Darryl and I went to the Brazil Concert Band Concert, the first of the season due to Covid-19 Coronavirus, and it brought back so many good memories.

Parke County Indiana

Darryl and I took a drive to see some of the bridges of Parke County and then to Rockville to tour the shops of the Courthouse square.

I loved this visit to the Roller Mill and bridge in Bridgeton, Indiana

Shortly after this I left to go on a 2 week trip to Utah and Idaho while Darryl stayed in Terre Haute to work on the dome.

The Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Automobile Museum

Saturday June 20, 2020

Like his Father before him and his Grandfather, Darryl loves cars and has a keen appreciation for old cars. He took me to Auburn, Indiana on this Saturday to one of the few places that was open during the Coronavirus Lock-down, The Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Museum.

I had heard the term "It's a Duesy" or doozy for years and never knew it was a phrase coined by owners of the Duesenberg automobile. This 1934 Duesenberg was just one luxury car on display.
I also never realized how many automobile manufacturing companies were located in Indiana and these three were located here in Auburn in the same factory.

The Cord car was named for the man who later became president of the Duesenberg and Auburn Car companies.

This is a beautiful 1930 Auburn.

These beautiful automobiles cost tens of thousands of dollars during the great depression and only the very, very wealthy could afford them.

And a 1930 Duesenberg

1926 Duesenberg

A  1937 Cord 812 Coupe

1936 Auburn Phaeton

So many beautiful cars it was hard to keep track of them all, so just enjoy the photos.

I love going to these museums with Darryl and he can tell me all about each car, it's engine, special features, etc. His knowledge of these old cars is amazing and I love learning about them.

This automobile is very cool. It is a 1926 Cunningham.

The museum is housed in the old Office building for the plant and they have some beautiful concept art work from the designing of the cars.

In case you were wondering this is the State Police Car that transported the captured John Dillinginer.

Well, this is THE END of the car show!

One more thing before the end of the post.

😊😊😊

We didn't have any chairs for to go with our folding table, so Darryl, always on the lookout for a bargain, found 5 chairs for $2.00 apiece at a garage sale and with a $5 investment in some fabric and a quick recovering of the seats we had some decent dining room chairs.
