The Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Automobile Museum

Saturday June 20, 2020

Like his Father before him and his Grandfather, Darryl loves cars and has a keen appreciation for old cars. He took me to Auburn, Indiana on this Saturday to one of the few places that was open during the Coronavirus Lock-down, The Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Museum.

I had heard the term "It's a Duesy" or doozy for years and never knew it was a phrase coined by owners of the Duesenberg automobile. This 1934 Duesenberg was just one luxury car on display.
I also never realized how many automobile manufacturing companies were located in Indiana and these three were located here in Auburn in the same factory.

The Cord car was named for the man who later became president of the Duesenberg and Auburn Car companies.

This is a beautiful 1930 Auburn.

These beautiful automobiles cost tens of thousands of dollars during the great depression and only the very, very wealthy could afford them.

And a 1930 Duesenberg

1926 Duesenberg

A  1937 Cord 812 Coupe

1936 Auburn Phaeton

So many beautiful cars it was hard to keep track of them all, so just enjoy the photos.

I love going to these museums with Darryl and he can tell me all about each car, it's engine, special features, etc. His knowledge of these old cars is amazing and I love learning about them.

This automobile is very cool. It is a 1926 Cunningham.

The museum is housed in the old Office building for the plant and they have some beautiful concept art work from the designing of the cars.

In case you were wondering this is the State Police Car that transported the captured John Dillinginer.

Well, this is THE END of the car show!

One more thing before the end of the post.

😊😊😊

We didn't have any chairs for to go with our folding table, so Darryl, always on the lookout for a bargain, found 5 chairs for $2.00 apiece at a garage sale and with a $5 investment in some fabric and a quick recovering of the seats we had some decent dining room chairs.
