Gators and Graduation in the Fast Lane!

Saturday May 23, 2020

It is much to quiet with everyone gone. I've had 2 days to clean and organized and it's not getting dirty again. Whatever will I do?

Darryl had just the remedy for this lonely Grandmother. 1st. - Put her to work!

We went up to Vancleave and picked nearly 2 gallons of Blueberries.

After we brought the berries home and cleaned them he took me out to the Gulf Coast Alligator Ranch in Moss Point, Mississippi. Talk about Gators!!

Juvenile alligators...

Baby alligators..

All sizes of Allligators..

These gators are about 3 feet long or a little longer.

And of course great, big, HUGE alligators!

Neither one of us had ever been on an air boat before, and can I just say... It was as cool and fun as it looks in the movies!

Our guide found us several gators in the wild to see.

When we got back to the "Ranch" it was feeding time. That wheelbarrow full of whole chickens didn't last long. What a good day. We finished it off with some warm Blueberry Cobbler.

And the tomatoes and peppers keep growing!

Darryl left this morning for Indiana. Dome is sending him up there to build another 'Salt Storage Dome' for the Indiana Toll Road. I will join him in  about 3 weeks, but first I have a very important journey to take.

Hey Parker... What are you doing here?
I left on Wednesday for North Carolina where I will be going to Jonas' very unique High School Graduation. Way back in February, Cali had made arrangements for Gideon and Parker to spend a month of their summer with their Carolina cousins, so guess who I saw when I woke up?

Cami was kind enough to give me a Tension Rod Perm. She and Jesse were saying you can't find these perm rods in the beauty supply stores anymore. Don't I look 'mah..va..lous"!

She also gave me a pedicure and painted my toenails. I was getting the royal treatment!

It doesn't show up very well in the photo, but my toenails were sparkly!

Then we mad Graduation Lei's for Jonas with Candy and rubber ducks.

FRIDAY MAY 29, 2020

Since Covid-19 pretty much all public gatherings have been cancelled where people would have to sit in close contact with each other. Skye's college commencement was postponed until October. Jonas' school joined the new fad of 'Drive through Commencements and Graduations'. Someone at his school has connections and they were able to do their commencement at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on the track! AWESOME!

LINCOLN CHARTER Class of 2020!
Way to go Jonas!

When Shiloh and Jason first hear the announcement about the graduation they went out and rented a 15 passenger van. They invited us and Mike and Dru to ride with them. Unfortunately, Darryl had to miss it.

Each Graduate was allowed to have two cars come into the speedway. We watched the ceremony on the big screen and when it was time to line up, only the car (or in our case the van) with the graduate was allowed to drive around the track to the presentation of the diploma.

The speeches were given and televised to the screens. When the Ceremony started, cars would honk their horns for their grads and whistle and yell.
Hey.. you are supposed to stay in the car at all times..... Emily!
Wesley was having a good ol' time.

Of course we decorated the van... it says
Jonas - 2x state Champion Cross Country

Amelia, Heather and Manny were in the other car.... somewhere out there.

The faculty and staff employed social distancing of 6 feet as they lined up on the track and cheered the graduates on.

Pretty soon we saw people getting out of their cars to take pictures sitting or standing on the track of the Charlotte Motor Speedway. This was against the rules and the security people would come and tell you to get back in the car if you got caught.

Of course Jonas got out and had a photo taken. And so did Emily, Adrianna, Preston, Lydia, Adam, Maggie, Micah, Benny and even Baby Wesley (with Papa Mike's help), each going separately as we would pull forward then stop. No they didn't get caught, and they were excited to actually touch the track.

Yes, it was tons of fun.. You didn't have to be quiet or worry about disturbing the family next to you!
Hello Ems!

Grandma and the crew in the back of the bus! Micah, Adam and Maggie!

Jonas is the tall one waiting for his name to be called.

JONAS MICHAEL GUFFEY!!!!
And the crowd went wild!
(in the van)

Saturday was Joe's Graduation party with plenty of BBQ everything and delicious side dishes!

I believe Lily and Cami made the giant cookie cake. It was yummy!

Such a pleasant day and a wonderful time was had by all!

Especially Wesley as he gets lot's of lovin' from the cousins!

By Gideon... See you soon!
