The Next Dome Technology Project

Friday November 29, 2019
Two weeks earlier as Darryl and I embarked on our November adventure, he received a phone call from Dome telling him they had signed a contract on our next job and we needed to be onsite by December 6th. So on  Friday after Thanksgiving Darryl and I left Virginia and headed back to Granger, Indiana to pack up and leave for Pascagoula, MS.

We left a snowy and cold Indiana on December 4th and arrived at the very warm, coastal town of Gautier, MS where our apartment is, on the 5th.

It has been a very busy couple of weeks and it got even busier.

Our son-in-law Ryan had to have emergency surgery the week after Thanksgiving and Skye was getting ready to start her finals at Southern Virginia University. Ryan ended up in the hospital for several days and had complications and had to go back, so 4 days after arriving in Mississippi I left to go back to Virginia to see what I could do to help.
💕

I have to admit, this grandma loved taking care of Little Miss Avery as I stayed home to help Ryan.
She was such a big help. She really liked helping Grandma mail her Christmas cards.

I stayed for a week until Ryan started showing improvement and Skye had completed most of her finals. Ryan is still pretty weak and is going to have a long slow recovery, so prayers on his behalf would be appreciated. I got back to Mississippi on the 16th. Just in time to unpack the rest of our boxes and put things away, then repack for our Christmas journey.

Mid-November Vacation!

Darryl and I spent the first 2 weeks in November getting our crew moved out of their apartments and demobilizing the job sites. We packed up on the 14th and headed for the Smokey Mountains of Virginia where we visited with Skye and Ryan and Darryl helped to remodel their upstairs Bathroom.

I had a lot of fun playing with the girls, Reagan, Annabelle and little Avery.

Reagan was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I stayed up late to decorate cookies for the occasion, but there was a small problem. I forgot to add any flavoring and they tasted terrible, so I scraped the frosting off and just used canned frosting on the cookies.

Reagan's baptism was wonderful. Her father Ryan baptized her and there were over 50 people who came to celebrate this wonderful occasion with her.

Reagan with Mom and Dad....

And with her 'Nonna', Ryan's mother Donna who made Reagan's beautiful dress.

Reagan with her grandparents, Donna and Doug Lowry.

I am so proud of this big girl! Grandma Cindy and Reagan,

and with Grandpa Darryl.

Annabelle joined us as she was enjoying the cookies.

It was a lovely evening for everyone.

Skye and Reagan.

And with Annabelle again.

I am so blessed! 💖 How I love my Skye!

How big is Avery?!

Soooo Big!

Darryl and I drove down to North Carolina to see our Guffey families and Grandma enjoyed her snuggles with sweet Wesley.

I think he loves me too!

And this boy really, really loves his Grandpa Darryl!💗

I think he can look right into your soul!

And he loves to give kisses! 😘

💕But oh how he loves his Daddy!💕

The night before Thanksgiving Cami and Jacob hosted a "Pop in for Pie" night! This was just what they made for the event, and the guest brought even more goodies! YUM!

Darryl and I also had the opportunity to sing Christmas Carols with the Lincolnton Ward Choir.

On Thanksgiving morning we drove back up to Virginia where we found the cooks busy in the kitchen preparing a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. Even Little Miss Annabelle was busy preparing Deviled Eggs.

Hey... Miss Avery is "In the Money".  We looked over and she was cleaning out Grandpa Darryl's wallet.... and enjoying it!

Now here is where I should have put up the photos of our Thanksgiving feast, but the truth is we were having so much fun with all of the family that was there (Skye and Ryan's Family, Donna and Doug, and Ryan's sister Stephanie and her family) I forgot to take any photos. But trust me - It was amazing! Thank to all of you for the wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!

What's Happening in November

The weather has turned decidedly cooler and Darryl is sporting his flannel shirts again. He's also fixing more and more clocks these days.

I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed this beautiful "Hoosier" autumn. I have always said Indiana is the most beautiful place in the world in Autumn with the trees turning all shades of yellows, gold, reds and more!

Some days it was hard to drive down the street as I kept wanting to stop every time I saw a beautiful, colorful tree and take a photo.

Some of the most beautiful trees were in my dear friend's yard. I made a quick trip down to Brazil and Seelyville to visit Michelle and Patty.

On the way back I stopped in Indianapolis to visit my dear high school friend, Janice Fetter-Salmon. At one time we were on the North High School Gymnastics Team together. I think we're lookin' pretty good for a couple of 60+ yr. old gymnasts.

On Sunday we said goodbye to our friends in the Mishawaka Ward.

Above with Sister Susan Ritchie and below with Stephanie Perrin.

And with my Harry Potter buddy Keshia Meikle.

On Monday Nov. 11th Darryl and I took the last piece of rental equipment back to United Rental. Of Course there was a snow storm just starting as he drove this manlift nearly a mile to the store.

The South Bend Salt Storage Dome.

The following morning the day dawned bright, clear and cold.

I am going to miss the ducks in our pond when we leave here.

And finally, one of "The Greatest Generation" is laid to rest.

Darryl's Uncle Frank Carr passed away a few weeks ago in Payson, Arizona and his Memorial service was held in Phoenix  at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

He was buried with full Military Honors at the private service. I was grateful that Cali was able to be there to represent our family.

His daughter, Jane Medlock, read a wonderful eulogy. Oh how we love Jane and her family. I can't wait to see them, hopefully this New Year!

Finally, Darryl and I have been filling up our lives with some wonderful auction finds. Here is something that I found and I really want and someday maybe I will get one.
This awesome Denoyer-Geppert Geographical Map takes me back to my Jr. High School Days. Ah well....... I guess I'll just have to go to more auctions.
