Toast of Tampa Fun and More

September 6 - October 4, 2022

In August I visited my very first Sweet Adeline's International Chorus when I attended a "Toast of Tampa Show Chorus" rehearsal. By the end of September I was in the audition process to become a member of the Chorus, but then.... it got interrupted.... by Hurricane Ian.

We did not have to evacuate, but we did have some mighty fierce winds and a couple of trees came down in the apartment complex. There was a lot of damage around the western coast of Florida.

Our area made out pretty well, but our ward did several weekends of service in Hurricane Clean-up.

In Relief Society we Packed Food for the Volunteers who would be working Clean up in Ft. Meyers

We were without power for a couple of days, but we made due with a generator to plug the refrigerator into and our camp stove to cook on.

Once the power was turned on I had time to make a couple of Halloween Pillow covers for the couch. I made them to go with the small pillow. It gives our little apartment a fun festive look.

The Walmart Parking lot became a central parking lot for all the out of town electric power trucks here to restore power.

Finally, Toast of Tampa (Under the direction of Tony DaRosa) was able to meet and rehearse again. This was the final rehearsal before they sang the National Anthem at a Tampa Bay Buccaneers Football Game on October 9th.

I am learning so much about singing Barbershop Harmony and even more about singing in a new way! I love it and I hope to pass my audition. I really want to go to SAI Regionals with "Toast" May.

Other September Happenings and a 50 year Reunion

September 7 - 17, 2022

Hello Wesley! I believe this photo was taken on his first day of Pre-School!

Darryl and I picked up a mini-van for Skye and Ryan and I drove it up to North August, South Carolina and got to get the girls off to School the next morning.

Avery, Annabelle and Reagan all ready for School!

Avery is such a cutie!

On Saturday the 17th we found a great beach at Fred Howard Park and had fun using our Paddleboards.

September 23 - 25, 2022
Darryl and I jumped on a plane and flew to Texas to attend
Weatherford High School's 50th High School Reunion.

We went by to see Bob and Su Bell, dropped our stuff off and then went to the Weatherford High School Homecoming Football game at Kangaroo Stadium,

Several of Darryl's classmates recognized him and he recognized a few too. There were about 20 classmates at the game visiting and they had a great time!

Darryl visiting with Linda Mohan ( I only know her maiden name)

We had a delightful Saturday morning visiting with Bob and Su Bell, then,
Saturday afternoon we drove around to see what was new in town. This Western Store was the biggest "Cowboy, Ranch and Farm" store I think I have ever seen!

Saturday Morning I got a text from Darryl's brother David saying he had gotten married the day before and invited us to 'attend' their reception on Zoom. Her name is Lisa and she seems very nice.

Saturday evening we went to the Weatherford Country Club for his 50th Reunion Dinner and Dance. It was really delightful.

So many of his classmates remembered him and he seemed to have a great time catching up with them.

Darryl and I with an old friend, Alan Justice.

I had a great time visiting and getting to know Sharon Garrett, (on the right). She is married to one of Darryl's classmates. Wayne Garrett.

Classmates Karen Nichols and Mike Koonce with Mike's wife Diane on the right. Mike and Darryl were good 'Band' friends.

Wayne Garrett (L) and another classmate.

The man in the middle is Darryl's classmate Clinton Rose, who owns one of the largest working Cattle Ranches in the USA somewhere in Montana, with Donna Jones on the right. I think that is Donna's husband with them.

More fun visiting...

Do you see Darryl?

Yes, he's right in the middle. We spent the night in a hotel and flew back to Tampa the next morning. It was a very fast but fun time. I'm so glad her got to do this to commemorate his 50th Reunion!
