Covid-19, November Days and Thanksgiving Fun

November just seem to fly by. Covid restrictions were being lifted and we enjoyed in person church and I was able to go back singing with the Ocean Springs Chorale on Monday nights.

The Novel Coronavirus is still around and causing problems. The treatments are much better and the survival rates for anyone under 70 yrs old is better than the regular influenzas. With being able to attend church for sacrament meetings, Cody and Alisa were also able to give our sweet little Sammy a name and a blessing. Jesse and Kelly came down with Tyree and Clancy and Hillary, Jake and their boys were there along with Kendra and Kelly Stevenson and their boys. The rest of us were able to watch and listen on zoom.

Here on the Gulf Coast we have been enjoying beautiful weather of late and I have been taking my morning walks with my neighbor and dear friend, Sister Angela Corke.

The nice weather means that Darryl and I ride our bicycles a lot more. This is what a trip to the grocery store looks like on our bikes.

An interesting "convertible" we saw on the way to church one Sunday. Oh the sights you see when you  live near the ocean.

As the Covid cases started rising again as they predicted it would during the regular flu season, and some governors were putting new restrictions in place, we didn't let it stop us from having a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Donna and Doug Lowry came to Biloxi for the week and brought Skye and Ryan's girls with them. Of course the first day was spent at the beach. Reagan and her cousin Trenton check out the water.

I brought little Miss Avery home with me for a sleepover. She stayed with us for 2 nights and I loved every minute of this sweet little girl staying with Grandma and Grandpa.

Skye and Ryan drove down, which was a real feat considering all of the car problems they've had the last 2 weeks. They pulled in about 7:00 Thanksgiving morning and after cleaning up and resting for a short while they went into Biloxi to meet up with Donna and Doug and their big girls.

The Crystals flew in at 3:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and although it was cloudy the weather was warm and in the low 70s, so we took them on a little tour of Pascagoula and out to the pier on Jimmy Buffet Beach.

That evening we ate pizza and played games. Ryan's brother Michael came over with his daughters and the children had a grand time.

We continued our Thanksgiving on Friday when we had 19 of us for Thanksgiving Dinner. We used the empty Dome Technology apartment across the parking lot where Skye and Ryan were staying to serve the dinner.

Skye and Reagan raised 2 turkeys this year and she brought one for us to cook. It weighed 25 pounds and barely fit in the roaster pan. I have never seen such a huge Thanksgiving Bird! I had to have Ryan and Kelly help me lift it, marinate it and get it in and out of the oven!

Skye had prepared games and crafts for the children to play and do before and after dinner. Miss Avery is ready for feast to begin.

It was so fun being with Tyree and Clancy. I just couldn't get enough of their hugs. And they were big helpers too.

It was quite a feast we had with Turkey, Green Bean Casserole, Cajun Crawfish stuffing, Sweet Potato Casserole, Overnight Salad, Cranberry Fluff and Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. And the Pies! Oh the Pies! Pumpkin, Pecan, Peanut Butter, Buttermilk, Cherry and Blueberry Pies.

Darryl and I hosted parted of Ryan's family for our dinner.  Donna and Doug Lowry with their son Michael and his wife Clarissa and their 4 children, Jade, Aria, Trenton and Asher. With Jesse & Kelly, Skye and Ryan and their 5 children we had 19 in all.

This is Grandpa keeping an eye on Miss Avery.

After dinner and some games we cleaned up and said goodbye to the South Carolina Lowry's and enjoyed a quiet evening of letting the 'tryptophan' from the turkey do it's work and put us to sleep.

Even with the pandemic raging and the validity of the presidential election outcome in question, there is still so much to be thankful for. That we live in this great nation, that our forefathers sacrificed so much to see true freedom. That we are healthy and happy and able to be together to celebrate however we wish. And most especially for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that we are free to worship Him.
