Soaking Up the Colombian Vibes

 Friday September 6, 2024

In less than a month we will be leaving to go home to the USA and to stay with Jesse and Kelly in Idaho, so we are making the most of our last weeks in Cartagena, Colombia.

Sometimes when I am on my way back from my morning walk, I like to stop by my favorite Arepa Stand for breakfast. Sometimes I pick up the Colombian version of a Scotch Egg too.

We are in the middle of the rainy season here in Cartagena and watching the sky as a storm is coming in can be beautiful.

And the rain always comes, fast a furious.

The mornings after are a lovely sight, and all of these sights I will miss watching.

On Saturday September 7th we went on a ward temple trip with our beloved Torrices Ward to the Barranquilla Temple. Always a lovely day no matter the weather.

Afterwards, we went to our favorite Italian Restaurant and indulged in a creme Brule for dessert...

That was dusted with actual Gold. Yes, it was delicious.

Just another floral shot from my morning walk.

Yep, I am going to miss this when I am gone.

I love the colorful world that is all around us here and the all the fresh seafood, fruits, vegetables that we get to partake of daily. These things I will miss too.

We had a final youth activity at our home with a lesson, watercolor painting and swimming afterward.

It was a joy!

We love watching the planes at the Rafael Nunez International Airport...

And, of course we will miss watching our favorite plane, the big KLM 787 Dreamliner, come in and leave every day.

And we will miss the people who take care of us every day. Guard Caraballo and ..

our favorite of the guards, Ocone!

It has been a wonderful year..
I walked a lot of miles in the mornings and throughout the days.

Some sights I won't miss, and after all this time it still breaks my heart.

I had one last painting day and lunch with the Sister Missionaries,

Ximena crocheted this cute little poodle for me.

I met up with my maid Maria, who has been ill, with her son Nicoli, and we had a fun lunch at Crepes and Waffles. Look at these desserts..

Walking Ximena to and from her crochet lessons twice a week was a real treat for me. Ximena is such a sweet girl.

We love this park and love to see how popular it is and busy every single day.

Bringing in the fish again.

It has been a wonderful year and I will miss all these things,

but I am so excited to get back to my home, the USA!

💖I Love Colombia!💖
