Hello Colombia! Hello Cartagena!

Thursday November 9, 2023

I left this morning and flew to Cartagena, Colombia to be with my sweet Darryl.

Of course he took me out to eat for some traditional... Japanese sushi!

Saturday November 11, 2023

Darryl took me to the Central Park of Cartagena where I got to see a sloth pretty up close..

and a couple o monkeys. This guy was really the boss

The park guide fed him and then told me to come over where he gave me a piece of banana

And I was able to feed him too! It was exciting.

According to the guide, this lady is "Boss Monkey's wife".

From there we walked to the beautiful barrio of Getsemani.

So colorful and brightly painted with murals on many of the walls.

The old church on the outskirts of Getsemani -

What a feast for my eyes to see such a colorful town and it's beautiful people!

Even though he's been here before, there is always more for Darryl to see.

You see the painting "Casa Palenque"

I wasn't kidding about the murals on the walls, but I forgot to  tell you of the other decorations.

Like the kites down one street, where even the lamp posts are beautifully painted.

This is an artisan alley, one of several, but my favorite.

Artwork lines the narrow street from several different galleries,

And you are welcome to walk in a peruse the colorful canvases.

From Getsemani we walked out to the main plaza where they were erecting the enormous Christmas displays of the three kings.

This is the clock tower gate into the old walled city of Cartagena, Colombia, founded in June of 1533.

It's just amazing to see this beautiful city. I can't believe I am here and get to see it!

There are cars and motorcycles that go up and down these narrow streets too.

Looking into the walled garden of a hotel.

Inside the west wall that faces the sea.

The one of the watch towers on the wall.

We walked down to the Serrrezuela Mall, which was built on the site of an old bullfighting ring.

I can't wait to come back!

Darryl and I live in a lovely barrio called Crespo. One of our favorite places to eat here is Atrium. This place is known for it's delicious Hamburgers and Hot dogs.

Oh my! I can't wait for you to come visit and bring you here.

Yummy!
