Cruise Day 4 - The Scuba Dives

Tuesday May 7, 2024 - Continued

We had 5 scuba divers in our group, but Ryan and Skye need to get current on their certifications, so only Alan, Rod and I went out on this excursion.

Heading out to the dive site we drove by our ship and the Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas.

My dive buddies Alan and Rod.

Rod has an underwater camera and all of these dive pictures are from him! I love it!

Our first drive was a drift dive and it was a little hard to get use to. But I was surprised as how fast we drifted. It was hard not to try to swim and paddle along, but soon I got the hang of it. As we sped by we saw numerous different fish, some coral and a small shark under a rock.

On our first dive we went down to around 65 - 60 ft.,

and, on this dive we drifted probably 1/4 - 1/2 mile with the current!

Between dives we were served some delicious refreshments of sliced fruit as we boated out to our next dive at reef site called Paradise.

Our second dive was indeed incredible! I have never seen so much underwater coral and beauty! It was like diving in an aquarium! This was not a drift dive so we had time look around and explore the choral.

Sharks, sand dollars, starfish, and eel, conch, flounder, lobster, stingrays, coral, sponges and so, so much more.

Our dive master Adrian was so fun and helpful!

Alan and I exploring the ocean floor at about 50 ft.

Hello Rod!!

Everything is A-Okay with Alan.

It was such an amazing experiencing and I can't wait to go again.

At dinner, a tired little miss Avery reflects how we are all feeling.

Hillary reserved a conference room and Skye and Ryan, Hillary and Jake, and I all played games, and we had a dozen games to choose from.

We did have 1 little accident. Miss Parker slipped down the stairs and sprained her ankle pretty good. Luckily, I had a walking boot and we iced it, gave her some Advil, immobilized it in the boot, and since she couldn't climb into her top bunk, she slept in bed with Grandma Cindy.
Good thing tomorrow is a sea day!
