More Carolina Family Time - Week 2

 Sunday May 1, 2022

Lily was playing in the Jr. High All State Band in Chapel Hill, so Darryl and I had Grandparent duty getting the boys and Isabelle to church and taking Izzy to her pre-school program at Asbury United Methodist Church. It was quite a delight for us!

They sang loud and proud and we were able to hear sweet Izzy (in the black dress)

It was quite a musical Sunday for both of the Guffey girls!

Jason took off work early and took all the children out of school because he wanted them to have the opportunity to pour concrete with the "master", Grandpa Darryl. Cami came ready to jump in and help and Shiloh did most of the work with the Bull float. I watched the littles and made sure everyone had something to do.

Darryl floated the last of it and finished it, then all the kids, Shiloh & Jason, Darryl & I, initialed or put a hand / foot print in it and dated it! It looks fabulous!

On Wednesday we went to the civic center to see Wesley's picture which was chosen for the district wide art show. His work was voted on and represented pre-K from North Brook Elementary School.

He wasn't sure what was going on, but the rest of us were beaming with pride!

Darryl and I also took the opportunity to take Cami's kids strawberry picking. We picked about 9 quarts of strawberries.

And boy... they were delicious! We finished just before the thunderstorm hit... Good timing!

On Thursday, May 5th, Darryl, Preston and I drove up to Buena Vista, Virginia for Skye's University graduation, and for Skye and Preston to participate in the Lexington Road and River Relay on
Saturday, May 7th.
A 3.5 mile Run, 9.9 mile bicycle ride, 2 mile kayak or canoe paddle and a 1.2 mile run. Only 6 people did it as solo participants. Skye and Preston were 2 of those 4. It was hilly, rough, cold and wet, but they did a great job and I am so proud of them.

Above - Skye at the bike exchange and then coming into the river landing.

Preston made the river landing a few minutes after Skye. He made up on the run though.

Skye beat him by just over 3 minutes!

Avery was a trooper as she waited for her mommy at the finish line.

Here she comes!

Good job Mommy!

Preston took a couple wrong turns, but he made it in strong!

We got back to Cami's in time to watch the sunset paint the tops of the trees.

Wesley came to sit with us at church on Mother's day.

Don't worry, he only stayed for a couple minutes then he went back to his mom.

We initiated the new patio at Shiloh and Jason's with a Mother's day cook out after church. Lily made this delicious Lemon Cake!

Avery and Wesley serenaded us as we were ready to leave.

Monday morning we headed back to Mississippi, but before I tell you about that... I have a very, very important post to put up.
