A Mississippi Guffey Thanksgiving! - part 2

November 25, 2021

Thanksgiving Day was beautiful, so we took full advantage of it and went to the beach with Shiloh, Jason and the kids!

It was a little cool, but the kids didn't mind and since we were there at low tide they had a lot of fun playing in the shallows.

Between baking pies early in the morning, cooking the turkey, going to the beach then coming home and getting the apartment and food ready for 16 people, I completely forgot to take a photo of our Thanksgiving dinner. The new sister missionaries, Sister Nicholls, who only has 4 months left in her mission, and Sister Alley (who just arrived in the mission field this week) and our friend and Co-worker, Jon Leibendorfer celebrated their Thanksgiving with us also.

A fun day to take the kids around to see the towns. Darryl and Jason took the boys to the fireworks store in Ocean Springs and Shiloh and I took the girls to the Menagerie on Mainstreet. Afterwards we met at Hucks for a delicious late lunch!
Maggie was having some issues with the sun shining in her eyes I guess! She is so much like her dad! Loves to clown around.

Friday night we took the family to walk through the lights at Bellingrath Gardens. It was beautiful and crowded, but we sure enjoyed it!

Micah and Wesley enjoying the "Under the Sea" lights.

Maggie look so lovely in her new red woolen coat and my fur hat!

Don't let that Gator bite you Darryl!

Wesley was mesmerized by all the light displays. Preston seems thrilled to be on wagon duty!

Oh no Benny! The crab is pinching your hand!

This light display met with Lydia's approval too!

The gang "under the sea".

Oh look, I'm here too!

Jason's hip is so bad that he is having 'hip resurfacing surgery' on Dec. 30th. I convinced him it would be best if he would use a crutch to walk the lights. He was grateful to have such a smart mother-in-law! It saved him a lot of hurt.

Daddy with his girl and her gimp. (Haha! Wonder if anyone will ever read this?)

Me with Shiloh and their friend Makyla.

The Chinese gate was the last photo taken before the phone died. Lydia is looking a little uncertain, but she really did like hanging out with her grandparents and seeing all the lights..

Now if only there had been some cute boys around. ;-)

Saturday was a 'hang around the house and play games' day. We did go to the toy store, but that was our only outing. On Sunday Shiloh and Jason were the speakers in Sacrament meeting at our little Branch in Lucedale. Their talks were great and very uplifting and their family sang (and me) Families Can Be together forever for special music. It was going pretty well until Wesley tripped on the microphone cord and about knocked the zoom camera over, and we all started giggling. It was nice to have Preston and Adam bless and administer the Sacrament and have Mary, Micah and Benny in primary. After Church they changed clothes and ate the sandwiches and lunch food Shiloh had brought while she packed the car, and at 12:30 they started the long drive back to North Carolina. Traffic was so bad that it took them over 13 hours to get home. I am sorry it took so long, but so very, very happy they came to visit!
