Peeking Through the Gates of Alamos

For those of you who have been to our house in Idaho and have seen our entry with the wrought iron gate, it was homes like these that gave Darryl the inspiration for our house and courtyard.
Sometimes they don't look very impressive from the outside....
.....but when you peek through the gates you will be amazed at what you see.

Darryl told me that while serving a mission in Argentina, many of the homes had a courtyard surrounded by the rooms of the house. He always wanted a home in that same style.

The following pictures were taken by poking my camera through the outside gates covering their doors.
Except for two of the pictures, these are all different private homes.

The next two pictures are of a beautiful Motel. The sign said 'Guests Only'. I pretended I was a guest.

These homes are very old and the walls are about 2 - 3 ft. thick. it was 85 degrees that day, but the air coming out the doorway was very, very cool.

There was no gate on this door.

So the next time you come to our house and wonder.... Hmmm..... "Why did you build like this??"
You will know the answer!
