Twice a year at our FHE after conference we would gather our children around and everyone had an opportunity to share their thoughts. Since we are scattered across the globe at this conference time I thought we could share our thoughts here:
So, for my family, and anyone else who would like to participate, I would like you to answer three questions about General Conference:
1. What is your favorite quote and who said it?
2. What was the most powerful moment of Conference for you?
3. Which speaker spoke on a topic you specifically needed, and what was it?

My favorite quote is by Elder Bradley D. Foster: "A distraction doesn't have to be evil to be effective", and then "Just follow your mothers, they have been down this road before!"
Since we are still watching the Saturday Sessions, I can only pick out something from Sunday, It was when President Uchtdorf said "Every person we meet is a VIP to our Heavenly Father....It is unworthy of us as Christians to think that those who suffer deserve their sufferings". That sent chills right through me!
And I will admit that once again all the talks were aimed right at me, but one I really needed was Elder Hallstrom's. His advice of "...in great joy or great pain, where we go for solice says alot.." and "Never let an earthly circumstance disable you spiritually" really hit home. I need to "Be simply, a devoted Latter-day Saint". So simple and so true. (... oh.. and I plan on "going to the higher ground!" as E. Cook said.;-)
1. I don't know if I had a favorite quote. At the moment there's no particular phrase that really jumped out at me.
2. There were a lot of profound moments, although I think the most moving talk for me was Elder Eyring's on Saturday morning. I just couldn't stop thinking about Gideon's birth mother and the situation she's in and my heart just breaking for her and what she must be going through. And as he spoke, knowing that through the power of repentence she can be whole again.
3. Well they must have been specifically for me, because there were A LOT of talks about teaching our children in the home and raising them with a firm foundation in the gospel. Elder Ballard, Elder Perry, Elder Bednar and so many others touched on it. It makes me realize I have a lot of work to do.
I consider myself as part of your family so here goes:
1. I can't remember a specific quote from this session. The ones you mentioned, Cindy, I also liked. Last conference I was listening to Elder Eyering speak and the words, "Enduring in Love" stuck in my mind. I had someone make me the saying in vinyl and it's now on our wall by our family pictures.
2. I remember crying a lot during conference so I'm not sure what moment was "most powerful" for me. But I did especially love when Davy saw President Monson on the T.V. and his eyes lit up as he yelled, "That's President Monson!"
3. I'm with Cali, all of the talks of mothering and teaching children were great for me. It has helped me remember just how important of a job I have. And how amazing it is to have Heavenly Father's children in my own care.
I also thought a lot about my sister in law who is going through a divorce. I hope that I can help her & be a good example.

Jess I am so glad you commented. You can take my spot. Believe it or not I didn't watch conference. I will say however that my new favorite quote is a Neil A. Maxwell one "Faith in God is faith in his timing" I'm sure you have all heard it before, and it's a principle we have all been taught, but for whatever reason when I was in the book store it stuck with me and I like it.
I'm a little late because I've been trying to catch up on talks that I missed. I still haven't seen them all, but I have some favorites out of what I've seen.
1. & 2. I love both of the quotes mom put up. In fact Elder Foster's talk was one of my favorites. But after listening to Elder Uchtdorf's talk from the priesthood session on patience I have a page full of quotes. Here's a few "without patince we cannot please God. We cannot become perfect." "Never give up on anyone, including yourself." "Sometimes it is in the waiting rather than the receiving that we grow the most" and "The lessons we learn from patience will cutivate our character, lift our lives, and heighten our happiness." Yep that was another favorite talk.
3. I guess since those were my favorites those were the ones I needed. Mommyhood and patience go hand in hand. If you haven't had the chance you should get online and watch the talks from the Priesthood Session. They're fantastic!
